Here, in the far north of Australia, a new wave of people are engaging in democracy. Who we choose to represent us will have repercussions across the Territory and Australia for generations to come. 

In early 2024 following a year of community engagement across the Top End, Voices of the Top End produced a Community Engagement Report 2024. The report identified that party politics is failing our society and 86% of participants don't feel represented by their elected representatives. Territory communities don’t feel their concerns are being heard, and believe politicians are increasingly beholden to party lines and lobbyists. Territorians have lost faith in our politicians and are looking for alternatives to the two party system. These sentiments are reflected across Australia. 

Represent NT is a not-for-profit company established to support community-led election campaigns and raise funds for better representation across the Northern Territory.

Our goal is to balance big party power with better representation at the next election by directing resources to independent candidates who share our community values and vision for the Territory. 

With your help, enough community independents may get elected so that they hold the balance of power in the next parliament. When small parties or independents hold the balance of power, the government of the day must consult with them to pass legislation. Community independents can hold the government to account, bringing integrity back to our political system, and helping create a thriving and sustainable community. 

Together we can change the way politics is done in the Northern Territory, but we need community participation - we need your support.
